My sons Hp laptop fails to boot...when turned on the screen comes on dimly, (I think my son placed the computer on power saving mode) you can hear the fan come on and the dvd system cycling through...the internet illuminates along with the speaker off, volume scale and power button above the key board and when the button is pressed for the dvd player it open. Thats all it does. The system runs on Windows 7 and has a 250 gb hard drive. When the hp repair disk (made when first bought) is placed in dvd player you hear it running for about 40 seconds but stops. You cant hear the hard drive driving. Is the hard drive going out? Hopefully my son followed the instructions correctly when he made the hp back up disc (repair disc).
