DELL LATITUDE D610 motherboard problem...help

DELL LATITUDE D610 PROBLEM:

"Power LED on the AC Adapter goes out as soon as the adapter is plugged in (Stays on if the adapter is not connected to the laptop)"

i'm good with soldering,etc. but i really cant understand whats wrong with the motherboard and where. Can someone please help me fix it. I do not have a comp to use and cant buy a new motherboard since i'm technically bankrupt as my company has shut down operations and no pay. Can someone or a laptop technician who has done it before please help me in detail step-by-step procedure to repair the fault....PLZZZZZZ....
