Problems getting to the linksys router site

Hello,

Today i planned to update my linksys WRT54G router to include security. I got half way through the task and a warning page came up stating that if i continue that it might cause damage to my PC. I tried to go to go back to the last page i had viewed and in doing so it froze me on the warning page and I was not able to access my linksys router page by typing in 192.168.1.1 in my chrome browser.
Can someone inform me about what to do. I am not that tech savy but i feel like this might have something to do with my firewall blocking the page from opening. I have tried unplugging my router; i tried restarting the computer but to no avail. I am able to get on the internet but I cannot go to this site at 192.168.1.1 Please help.
