DVD rom keeps opening

Assalamo Alaikum. I connected my DVD rom from ID to usb converter that i just bought.When i connected my DVD rom with it the adapter of Device suddenly got electric shock and the it's circuit burned and it damaged my DVD rom also. The damage it causes is that my DVD rom keeps opening and does not close.Please anyone who has any knowledge about that plz tell me. I shall be grateful.
