Laptop Screen is Black but Power is Functioning [Closed]

Hey guys,
My friend's laptop has stop working and since he has no way to ask for help considering his laptop is down, he wants me to ask you guys for help. His laptop, which is a Lenovo IdeaPad Z565, seems to power up, but the screen stays black. He says the screen isn't broken because he has gotten it to work for a little while (using the unplug power, take out battery, hold power button for 30-60 second trick), but when he puts the battery back in, the laptop goes black screen again. He's tried this a couple of times already so I don't think that solution works. He also tried to get to Safe Mode start up by pressing F8 but the screen goes black before he can do so. Can anyone offer some solutions? Thanks.
