Remote desktop seven to vista

I have a windows 7 PC and a windows vista laptop ... I tried to use remote desktop to control the laptop from the PC , but it didn't work ... although it worked the other way around (controlling the PC from the laptop) ... I then read somewhere that the first is not possible (to control vista from 7) ... so the question is :"is there anyway to hack it or something like that ?!
