Adobe flash player will not work using IE on Win 7

I have an HP computer, have 64 bit, Windows 7 and Internet Explorer. I see Adobe flash player is loaded on my computer, but still receive error messages to install it and my video, etc., will not correctly play. Have redone it several times to no avail. It always tells me to close my browser, IE, but not sure on how to do it. Can anybody please help me? I'm ready to punch my computer!!!
