It's a Gateway laptop; the screen went dead while it was plugged into the wall (power) and I was doing backup. I flipped it and tried to take the battery out, to no avail. The button that is supposed to slide sideways, won't move. It's a PC with Windows7.
Everything else seems to be working as the sounds emanate when I hit the buttons, but the screen is black.
I used to have similar problems with my old Dell laptop, and the battery trick was working back then, however here I can't even get close.
I've had it for a few years, and this is the first time ever that I have a problem with. So am forced to use a replacement with Windows8 and hate it. Hope my Gateway will somehow come back to life
UPDATE: It came back. It turned out to be a Windows Crash. When I clicked an arrow, it told me in no uncertain terms that it was indeed a Blue Screen. OMG. I have ESET nstalled on it, and this one isn't free. Will of course run scan and maybe System Restore. It's now back to life, but of course wouldn't want this to happen again.
