HDMI to TV no sound Solution Win7

I stumbled upon this solution when nothing else worked,
I was getting a message saying that the device is being used by a different application

when I went to test. Then I found in cntrl panel,sound dbl click HDMI output then click advanced tab & you will find

the sound quality settings & then I noticed that when I changed from 24 bit to 16 bit the message didn't appear & the sound worked... so happy (until i remembered 10 years ago i payed $50 bucks for a 'Sound Blaster' card that was 24bit)
