Password reset

I wish to reset.my password for my Yahoo account however the process requires an email be sent to a previously established alternate email account. This is fine except the alternate account has not been in use for over 8 years. The alternative s of answering security questions or sending a text message are unavailable. How would or could I reset my password under these conditions? Yahoo Support Service is not supportive in this case.
