Hello rajucrazy,

Have you made any hardware or BIOS changes recently? Probably there's an incompatibility issue preventing the laptop components to work normally.
If you haven't changed anything, you could clean the motherboard components.
I would recommend that you try with a repair CD of your system if you have one.

Hope I helped.

Hello again,

Can you try to boot the Windows from the DVD? Try this:
1. Boot up from your Windows 8 disc
2. Don't click 'Install Now', click Repair Your Computer
3. Click Advanced Options
4. Click Other Options
5. Click Diagnose my PC
6. Wait for your computer to reboot

Also, you could try fixing your booting records.
Go to the command prompt and run these few bootrec commands:
Bootrec /fixMBR
bootrec /fixBoot
bootrec /rebuildBCD

Good luck!

Hi,

Here's what I've found, I hope that it will be helpful: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37848/~/how-to-access-safe-mode-when-you-cannot-access-the-operating-system
If you click restore, the system might bring you to previous state but it's not guaranteed. I suggest that you get a Linux Live CD and try to start your laptop with it. The other thing is to erase your disk and make fresh install of the operation system.
I think, the best solution is to bring your laptop to a professional PC company to make all the tests.

Best of luck.
