Function in excel that auto identify the words from the other s

I would like to know if there is any function in excel that auto identify the words from the other sheets and apply the formula on that specific cell with that words.
for example
I am making profit of a currency like Euro.The detail(Purchase & Sale) is given in another sheet.I need some function which can auto pick that data from one sheet and make it's profit in another.i mean auto identify the cell which contain the data of this specific currency & then picks it and make profit.
P.S i do know the formula for profit but don't know how to perform the above mentioned function.
