TS3 won't open!

Hello,
so I have had ts3 on this computer before, but I had to wipe the laptop due to a virus, which means everything was taken off. I have re-installed Sims 3 and I was able to play, but when I decided to add 2 of my expansion packs, it won't work! Every time I try to open the menu, a notification pops up saying windows is trying to solve the problem, then crashes. What should I do? Someone told me to uninstall them, then re-install them but when I try to, it says the games may not work properly if I continue..
