My ipod touch just won't charge

Hello,

I just wanted to ask how would i be able to fix my ipod 5th generation. what happened was that my ipod was charging and my little brother tripped on the wire, which then caused my ipod to fall on the floor. since then my ipod just won't charge. i don't know if its the charging port in the ipod or the battery. would you help me out.
