Entering into power saving mode soon

I have looked around for an answer and can't find any.
I have an HP computer with LG monitor.
the monitor will black out at odd times, I never know when. some days it is 5 0r 6 times and then it may be days before it does it again. Black outs or secs long. a little box in the right corner comes on saying SUB D showing a plug in...
Now I have noticed that every time I turn computer off there is a update to load. One of one. It is the same update that never loads. So I watched and before it gets done it says Entering into Power Saving Mode soon and turns off the computer so the update can't load. I really would like to get this fixed. Any Ideas??
