Toshiba wont start up at all

Hello,
I have a Toshiba satellite c55t-a laptop its a year old, about 3 months ago I was using my laptop watching a movie but all of a sudden the screen went black and I haven't been able to start it up again. I plug the charger on it and the charger light lights up but when I try to turn it on it stops charging. After a few seconds it starts again but the screen always stays black.
