Toshiba Satalite mouse not working

My Toshiba Satalite mouse pad is not working properly. I can scroll and move it around but I can not tap onto sites and programs as previously done. To do this I now have to right click on the buttons. I have tried F5 and so on but nothing is working PLEASE HELP
