Black screen

So the other day my computer monitor went black sometime while I was sleeping. I leave it on until it goes into power saving so it's possible I may have killed it but it's fairly new, to me anyway no idea who old it actually is. I woke up to the black screen. I was able to fix it by unplugging my PC removing my graphics card, putting it back in, and turning my PC back on. Today I turned off my monitor, which I rarely do, and came back to a black screen. I tried what I did the other day with no luck. It will only show picture for less than a second when it goes through the boot process. After that just black screen. It goes through the whole boot process and makes it all the to my log in screen because I can hear the little noise that I normally hear at my log in screen. Feel free to ask any questions if you need to know more and you think it will help you figure it out. I can't tell the specs for sure but since it boots all the way up I assume it's just the monitor.
