My Headphone Jack Isn't working!

Hello, so I have a problem with my headphone/microphone jack on my Windows 8 laptop. Whenever I plug in my earbuds it acts as if I never even plugged them in. And this is with both pairs of earbuds! And it's not the earbuds because they work perfectly fine on my tablet and phone. Has anyone else ever had this problem? This has been happening for six days! Please tell me how I can fix this problem. Thank you.
