Vdi-d connection connect the second monitor

Hello,

I have tried everything to connect the second monitor i am using a vga connection on one monitor the second is using a vdi-d connection. the monitors come on at start then the vdi -d goes off after log in. the vdi connection seems to me it is not connecting after start up. Any suggestion?
