Dvd writer in toshiba satellite laptop

my dvd writer in laptop (toshiba satellite l755) can write blank cd and dvd but it can not read any cd or dvd. Even any movie dvd or music cd from the shop is inserted in the dvd drive it shows it as a blank cd or dvd.
