Computer having troubles reading discs

Hello,
Recently I found an older stash of video games on discs, like Sim City 4 and Age of Mythology. I have been able to install them both but when I insert the disc, the menu still pops up. I then select play, but then nothing happens after that. Anybody know what's wrong and how I fix it?
