Acer Aspire E1 laptop won't boot - black screen

Hello,

I tried obtaining the BIOS via a working laptop. I formatted a USB stick using FAT and downloaded the zip but there is no flashit file, just a V5WE2217 file and a readme.txt file.

Rubbish laptop, forever failing and it's owner (a 72 year old lady) is very depressed and fed up with the constant issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - we've already tried extracting the battery etc.
