Connect to new wifi hotshot - no internet on laptop

I've been using my university internetnconnection for the past week. Today I moved to a hotel and switched to a public (pay) hotspot.

I can connect to the wifi network, but then it says I have limited access. Then I open a browser and try to go to a website. Normally this brings up a splash screen, but instead all I get is a DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET error. It doesn't matter which site I try to go to, it can't find the server.

I've tried three browsers. I've restarted the computer. I've used netsh int in reset resetlog.txt. I've used ipconfig /renew etc.

It worked fine this morning, but now on this network it doesn't work. My tablet connects fine, and so does my phone, but not my laptop.

I'm using Windows 8 on an Acer V5 with a broadcom adapter.
