Num Lock key will not stay locked after the computer is shut dow

The num lock key on my new computer with Windows 10 will not stay locked after the computer is shut down. Is there a way to get it to stay locked? I'm not use to it going off and I start typing passwords and think I've typed them all wrong when they don't work.
