Microphone stopped working

Hello, i tried using my laptop to skype this morning but the other end couldnt hear me. i checked my mic setting and when i speak the green bar that shows incomming sound doesnt move. it doesnt register a sound coming through my microphone. ive tried fixing setting and enabling and stuff but nothing works. HELP PLZ!!!!!!!!!
