Dell XPS laptop (2012 make) suddenly went black

Hello,
My Dell XPS laptop (2012 make) suddenly went blackout amidst doing some work when I connected the battery charger in switch on position. Since then I failed to restart it. The battery charger is perfectly alright and working well in another Dell laptop of mine. My battery is also exhausted now. Kindly suggest what to do.
