Files missing

This is my second request. The last answer I got did not work. The answer was from Ambucias and was: Check if the files are not in hidden mode.
Click on "Start" -->Run --> Type cmd and press Enter.
Here I assume your pendrive drive letter as G:
Enter this command.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.* --> Press Enter
You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and
paste it.

This did not work. Any other ideas? I also attempted an autorun extraction(?) idea I saw in the forums here and that did not work either.

Here's my problem: I moved 40+ gb of files to a 256 gb flashdrive. Upon opening the flashdrive it shows two folders I created and moved the files into. Upon clicking on either of the folders I set up, they show no files. Yet, looking at the properties of the drive it shows that there is 40+ gb used. HELP! My back-up is turning into a nightmare!
