Only taskbar is responding to my clicks

Hello,
Lately I have been having problems with my windows 7 computer. Pretty much everything on my computer is unresponsive except my taskbar. Everything on my desktop will run perfectly fine, but when I click on it, it won't respond and u have to close it out from the taskbar. Can anyone help?
