Upgrade Windows Vista to Windows7 genuine

Couple months ago I upgrade my Windows Vista to Windows7 when I connected to Internet, Microsoft announced me the copy of Windows7 that I am using does not pass genuine validation,when I realized this copy of windows7 will not activation,I back to Windows Vista and I installed again because that copy of Windows Vista was active . My question is with respect to the activation of Windows Vista Can I upgrade it to Windows7 genuine. if so please help me.

there is no free way to upgrade from Vista to Win 7.

It's not even possible to buy Win 7 anymore from Microsoft. They only sell Windows 10.
