Screen won't turn on, help!

Hello,
I have a Toshiba laptop, I'm not super techy but have moderate amount of knowledge on the subject. Ran an HDMI from my laptop to my TV for a movie, then fell asleep. Woke up powered on my laptop and got no screen response at all. The computer turned on, because it made the sound, fans running, so on and so forth. However the screen is still unresponsive even after plugging it back into my TV via HDMI again. PLEASE HELP
