Monitor goes black

When i turn off my computer and boot it back up my monitors do not get any signals. I do not hear any sounds when I boot up my computer other than the fan like it will usually the only way i can fix this is by turning it off again and moving the graphics card to another slot and booting it back up and then it will work. What I want to know is what is causing this to my computer and how can I fix it permanently.
