Trouble connecting to WiFi network

My apple products and other smartphones will find my wifi and connect just fine but other products like a kindle fire, a laptop and an android tablet won't even find the wifi network.
I have switched to Alantic Broad Band and before when I had Windstream I had no issues and all devices would find the network.
Is this a problem with Atlantic Broad Bands modem or do I need to update my router (which is a Belkin 500) or is it something else?
