How to connect a PS4 or Xbox One controller: iPad, iPhone

Gamers who own an iPhone or an iPad are now able to enjoy Apple Arcade, a subscription-based gaming service with over a hundred games already available. Here we explain how you can pair your Xbox One or PS4 controller to your iPhone and iPad to get the most out of the games.

How to check compatibility?

Verify the game compatibility

After selecting a game, scroll down through the description. At the bottom there will be a controller icon, this indicates whether the game is compatible or not.

Verify the compatibility of the Xbox One controller

The only compatible controller is model no. 1708, which came with the Xbox One S in 2016. Unfortunately, gamers with previous models will not be able to use them as they are lacking Bluetooth capabilities.

Verify the compatibility of the PS4 controller

According to Apple, the only non-compatible model is the CUH-ZCT1U. It was one of the first models packaged with the PS4 in 2013. If your console is more recent then you should have no issue connecting. If you have any doubts, you can check the model no. of your controller on the sticker at the back, beneath the bar code.
