(CCM) — On Thursday, Uber added ride scheduling to its roster of taxi services. The company, which pioneered the mobile taxi-ordering app six years earlier, announced on its official blog that the new addition has come in response to user feedback calling for a way to request a taxi in advance. Prior to the inclusion of this service, users could only order a taxi to pick them up immediately, which proved less convenient for users wishing to travel during both off and peak hours. Uber now allows users to schedule a ride between 30 minutes and 30 days in advance of their pickup time, with the app reminding users of their ride 24 hours, and 30 minutes ahead of their trip.

Uber has begun the service in Seattle and has expressed plans to expand to other top business travel cities very soon. Users who are outside of the Seattle area can sign up through Uber's website to be put on a list to be the first to try the service when it arrives in their cities. Ride scheduling is currently only available through the uberX section of the app, with priority access being given to either users with Business Profiles or those who are linked to their companies' Uber for Business accounts.
