EA Surprises With FIFA 17 Story Mode

EA has pulled the wraps off The Journey, a single player story mode for its best-selling soccer game.

(CCM) — Electronic Arts launched an opening salvo in the battle for attention ahead of the annual E3 video game conference in Los Angeles this week with some surprising news about FIFA 17. The company has announced that the next version of its hugely popular soccer game will include The Journey, a new story-based game mode which allows users to play a young professional called Alex Hunter. In a departure from previous versions of the best-selling soccer game, which have focused on soccer gameplay, The Journey lets players influence the career of Hunter at any of the 20 Premier League clubs through interactions with other characters including agents and managers as well as through his performance during matches. The game will be released on Sept. 27 in North America and two days later in the rest of the world.

Electronic Arts also provided news updates about its Star Wars games projects at its EA Play event held before the start of E3. Free Star Wars Battlefront expansion packs will be released later this year, and a new installment of Star Wars Battlefront is due for release in 2017.
