Apple Starts Casting for Reality TV Show
Planet of the Apps will follow developers in their quests to get funding and build successful Apple apps.

(CCM) — Apple is on the hunt for participants for its new reality TV show, which will be called Planet of the Apps and which is due to begin filming later this year. In March the company announced that it was planning a television show with producers Ben Silverman and Howard Owens and the rapper, but gave little detail apart from the fact that the show would be about creative people. Now, Apple appears to be ready to divulge more. "Join us on the search for the next great app in a new original series," is how the show is introduced on the Planet of the Apps website.

The show's producers are looking for developers who are over 18 years old and who are working on an app for iOS, macOS, tvOS, or watchOS that will be ready to show off in a functional state by Oct. 21. Applications to appear on the show are being accepted until Aug. 26. Successful applicants will have the chance to receive hands-on guidance from technology experts, featured placement for their apps in Apple's App Store, and funding from venture capitalists. Apple has not yet revealed when the show will air and where it will be broadcast.
