macOS Sierra brings forth major innovations including seamless, device-to-device transition and Siri integration.
(CCM) — macOS Sierra is now a reality. Three months after the official unveiling of Apple's new macOS operating system at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference, the highly anticipated successor to Mac OS X El Capitan is finally available for download. The new macOS Sierra brings with it a slew of innovative features, including, most notably, full Siri integration. Designed specifically to help facilitate multitasking, the Siri desktop feature can search files and folders, publish on social media, send texts and emails to contacts, pin important reminders to the Notification Center, and even serve as a personal entertainment center. Other noteworthy features on macOS Sierra include cross-device copy and paste capabilities, integrated Apple Pay, auto-unlock with the Apple Watch, and optimized storage capabilities.
macOS Sierra is compatible with all iMac and MacBook models produced from 2009 onward as well as MacBook Air and Mac Mini models produced after 2010. The download is free and can be completed directly from the App Store. Following the Sierra rollout, Apple is expected to unveil a completely revamped line of MacBook Pros at its October event, though this has yet to be confirmed.
