Plantronics Unveils Wireless Headphones
Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 wireless headphones offer active noise cancellation at a budget price.

(CCM) — Plantronics has thrown down the gauntlet to other headphone vendors with the launch of new wireless headphones that feature active noise cancellation for under $200. The BackBeat PRO 2 headphones' noise cancellation can minimize background noise while working or traveling but can be switched off so that the user can hear announcements and conversations without the need to remove the headphones. Built-in microphones enable the user to switch to phone calls, and sensors automatically pause or resume music as the headphones are removed or put on.

The BackBeat Pro 2 uses Class 1 Bluetooth to provide a 100 meter range from the audio source, and the company claims its smart power management technologies provide users with up to 24 hours of continuous listening time on a single charge. A hibernation state means the battery can last for up to six months if the headphones are accidentally left on. The headphones can be connected by Bluetooth to two devices simultaneously to allow users to switch between a tablet and phone and also come with a standard 3.5mm cable so that the headphones can be used to listen to in-flight entertainment on airplanes or when the battery is empty.
