Microsoft Unveils Apple Lookalike
Microsoft has shown off a new Mac-like desktop computer and a Creators Edition update to Windows 10.

(CCM) — Microsoft has announced a slew of new products and software that appear to have been designed to woo Apple customers. These include an all-in-one desktop computer called the Surface Studio and a Creators Edition update to Windows 10. The Surface Studio has a distinctly Mac-like look to it, featuring an ultra-thin touch screen, which is one inch larger than a top-of-the-range iMac, attached by two struts to a base unit. The computer is supplied with a new input device that Microsoft calls a Surface Dial, as well as a wireless mouse, keyboard, and stylus. Users rotate the Dial to carry out actions such as adjusting sound volumes or flipping through pages of a document. It can also be placed on the screen to bring up a graphical interface of selectable commands with compatible software. The Surface Studio will go on sale on Dec. 15 priced at $2,999.

The Creators Edition software update includes a new 3D Paint application, which allows users to draw 2D graphics that are automatically turned into 3D images by the software. Elements of an image can also be animated using the software. It also allows users to send emojis and 3D objects that they have made themselves to friends' desktops and to receive text messages on their computer screen. The new software will be released in 2017 and will be available as a free upgrade to Windows 10.
