Pokémon GO, the most sensational mobile game of 2016, has finally been launched in India.
(CCM) — Niantic Inc. has finally launched its popular mobile video game Pokémon GO in India — almost six months after its official launch in the international market. The makers of the augmented reality game have partnered with world’s fastest growing telecom company, Reliance Jio, to bring the game to the South Asian country. It will be available for users on the Apple Store and the Google Play Store starting Dec. 14, the telecom company said. "It's exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokémon, and Jio's disruptive high speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game," John Hanke, CEO and founder of Niantic, was quoted as saying in the release.
Reliance Digital stores and other Jio partner locations will appear as "PokéStops" and "Gyms" within the game. Pokémon Go users will also get an exclusive channel on Reliance Jio's messaging app, JioChat, which will enable Pokémon GO players to collaborate in a community of players where they can find daily tips, contests, clues, and special events. Pokémon GO has been downloaded by over 500 million users since its launch on Google Play and Apple App Store in July.
