(CCM) — LG has released a teaser for its forthcoming PJ9 speaker that hovers in mid-air. The Bluetooth-powered device will be unveiled during the CES 2017 in Las Vegas, scheduled from Jan. 5 – 9. The company ships the LG PJ9 with a "Levitation Station," which serves as a base and charging dock and enables it to float. This base has a powerful electromagnets system that keeps the speaker a few centimetres above the dock; as soon as the batter gets low, the speaker will automatically descend onto the dock and begin charging.

The LG PJ9 will provide playback time of 10 hours and is water resistant, meaning that it can survive immersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The company claims that the PJ9 will deliver better bass than other Bluetooth speakers, due particularly to the Levitation Station's separate subwoofer system. As of now, there is no information on the speaker's pricing and availability.

I don't understand why people need their speakers to float in the air. Yeah it looks kinda cool.. but I don't see any practical benefit. My option is https://www.audioreputation.com/outdoor-bluetooth-speakers/
