Dell has unveiled details about its much anticipated XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop even before its big CES reveal.
(CCM) — Dell's XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop may not be available for purchase until after its Jan. 5 reveal at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, but the company has already spilled the beans on its specifications. The announcement came in a blog post outlining the handful of Dell products that would be considered for the 2017 CES Innovation Award, in which the previously-secret laptop headed the list. Dell describes the laptop as being "thinner," "sleeker," and more conducive to "greater productivity" than its predecessors. The laptop's specifications include a 13-inch display, a battery life of up to 15 hours, a QHD+ (5.7M pixels) InfinityEdge touch screen, and HDR10 compatibility. The laptop runs on 7th Gen Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors and Dell BIOS and manageability software. Support for a Windows Hello finger print reader and infrared camera — both used to unlock the system — are expected to come later this year.
The XPS 2-in-1 will be available on Jan. 5 on Dell.com and at Best Buy in the United States with a price tag starting at $999. It will be made available in worldwide retailers "soon after," according to the company. Dell is also gearing up to launch its 27 Ultrathin Monitor, the laptop with the world’s overall thinnest profile at CES.
