Instagram users can now find stories in Explore based on location or hashtags.
(CCM) — Instagram is giving its "Stories" feature a shot in the arm with the announcement of two new ways to find new stories on Explore: location stories and hashtag stories.
Anyone making a story can add location stickers to it, and this location information is used to populate a new story ring at the top of Explore with stories made nearby. That means that any Instagram user can view local stories, or they can search for any location in the world and see a story ring for that place at the top of the location page.
Instagram is also introducing hashtag stories on Explore, which makes it easier for users to find stories related to any particular interest. Simply searching for a specific hashtag results in a story ring at the top of the page filled with stories using that hashtag (if any exist).
Users can tap on the X in their stories viewer list to exclude any of their own stories with location or hashtag stickers from appearing on Explore, if they wish.
Location stories on Explore are available on iOS and Android as part of Instagram version 10.22 in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Hashtag stories will be rolling out over the coming weeks.
