Nintendo's New iOS Game Out on Wednesday
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be released around the world for iOS devices on November 22, 2017.

(CCM) — Nintendo is staking a further claim in the mobile games market with the global release of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on November 22, 2017, Nintendo America has announced in a tweet.

The game was first unveiled in October 2017 and the iOS version was soft-launched in Australia soon after, rising to the top of the games charts there faster than previous Nintendo mobile games Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. An Android version is expected to be announced shortly.

Animal Crossing: Animal Camp involves players visiting and managing a campsite, rather than a village as in the console versions of the game. By decorating the site they can tempt specific animal characters to visit, and there are other activities such as fishing, bug hunting, shopping, and more.

The game takes place in real time, so the game world reflects the time and even the season in the real world. These factors affect things such as fish spawns and bug hatchings, enabling some events or features in the game to be available only at certain times of the year.

The game is free to play, but players can purchase "leaf tickets" which enable them to cut the time needed to carry out building and purchase extra materials to make furniture. It runs on Apple devices running iOS 9.0 or later.
