Snapchat Stories may soon be embedded in web pages using a feature called 'Snapchat Everywhere.'
(CCM) — Snapchat plans to make users' Stories available for viewing outside the Snapchat app using a feature called "Stories Everywhere," International Business Times is reporting.
"Stories Everywhere" is still under development, and it is likely to include a web player that will allow Stories to be embedded in web pages and viewed by anyone — regardless of whether they have a Snapchat account.
The move is similar to a change that Twitter made in 2011 when the social network allowed its Tweets to be embedded in other websites and viewed by people outside the Twitter app. Snap Inc., Snapchat's parent company, may hope that "Stories Everywhere" will allow Stories to be viewed much more widely, encouraging more people to sign up to the Snapchat service.
The International Business Times quotes a report in Cheddar which suggests that Snapchat may also offer its user-generated content, such as photos and videos, to other services to generate income.
Snap Inc. made a net loss of more than $3 billion in the first nine months of 2017, with its much-hyped Spectacles losing the company $40 million alone. But the service is still growing, and it gained 4.5 million new users in the third quarter of the year.
