The iOS 11.2.5 update comes with HomePod support and several bug fixes for compatible iOS devices.
(CCM) — Apple has released its latest iOS update in the form of iOS 11.2.5. The update brings a slew of new features, including support for Apple's forthcoming smart speaker, dubbed HomePod. The update will also enable users to automatically transfer their Apple ID, music, Siri, and WiFi settings to the HomePod, which is set to start shipping preordered devices starting Feb. 9.
The new update also includes a feature that enables Siri to read you the news across several categories, out loud. However, this feature is limited to select regions, including the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. Apple has not yet revealed whether it will extend this functionality to other regions too.
In addition to HomePod support and Siri's new news-reading ability, iOS 11.2.5 introduces a new layout for the audio control widget that includes all playback sources in one place. Additionally, the update fixes several bugs, including the one that was causing the Phone app to display incomplete details and the one in CarPlay that was rendering "Now Playing" controls unresponsive.
