Huawei is the latest Chinese phone-maker to mimic Apple's 'notch' design.
(CCM) — China-based Huawei has adopted an Apple iPhone X-style "notch" for all variants of its forthcoming P20 handset, according to an International Business Times report.
Images of the P20, P20 Lite, and P20 Pro have been leaked on Twitter by well-known blogger and leaker Evan Blass, and all show that Huawei is the latest in a series of Chinese companies to mimic Apple's use of an area containing sensors in the middle of the top of the display.
Although each of the three versions has a notch, there are subtle differences between them. Both the P20 and P20 Pro have a front-mounted fingerprint sensor positioned within a thin bezel beneath the display area. But while the P20 Lite also has the thin bottom bezel, its fingerprint sensor is positioned on the back of the device, like Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 smartphones.
Another difference is the camera configuration. The P20 and P20 Lite have vertically aligned dual cameras at the rear, similar to the iPhone X, while the P20 Pro has three rear cameras. Two of these are housed in a single module, with the third mounted below.
Huawei is expected to unveil the new P20 handsets officially at an event in Paris, France on 27 Mar. 2018
