Instagram Trials In-App Purchasing
Instagram users will soon be able to book movie tickets and make purchases without leaving the app.

(CCM) — Selected Instagram users can now make purchases directly from the app, using payment details stored in their profile settings, Digital Trends is reporting.

For now there are only a limited number of opportunities to use the feature, such as making advance payments for bookings at places like salons, the report says. But Instagram says that in the near future it will be possible to pay for a range of services, as well as items such as movie tickets.

Longer term it makes sense for the Facebook-owned company to allow in-app payments for all the tagged items in images which are offered in for sale. Currently users have to leave the app and enter payment details every time they want to make a purchase, so integrating payment into the app will make purchasing far more convenient. Users will also be able to see all their purchase details from different vendors from within the app with just a few taps.

Instagram has more than one million advertisers, and 25 million businesses have an Instagram presence. The company says that more than 80% of the 800 million Instagram users around the world follow at least one business on the social network.
