The music streaming service is matching Apple's $15 per month family deal.
(CCM) — Pandora has launched a $14.99 per month Premium Family Plan in a bid to convert some of its 80 million free listeners into paying subscribers. The music streaming service currently has about six million paying subscribers.
Pandora has been left behind by higher profile services such as Spotify and Apple Music, which have about 70 million and 40 million paying subscribers respectively. But its service is hampered by the fact that it is currently only available to users in the U.S., despite saying for many years that it is working on making it available in other parts of the world in the future.
The new Pandora service offers unlimited ad-free music streaming for up to six family members, similar to Apple Music's family subscription. Each user can create their own account, get custom radio stations and playlists, and download music to listen to offline.
Pandora launched its $10 per month individual Premium service a year ago after purchasing the assets of Rdio, a now defunct music streaming service. Existing users can upgrade to a Premium Family service in the Settings section of their accounts either online or in the Pandora app.
